Ilknur Boray (Vice President) has been an active volunteer in the Turkish-American community of Washington, DC, along with her late husband Yavuz Boray, since moving to the area as college students in 1977.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Applied Fine Arts Academy in Istanbul, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Ballet from Istanbul Conservatory, and a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University School of Art & Sciences in Washington, DC. Professionally, she was an Adjunct Professor of Fine Arts at Montgomery College in Maryland. Prior to that she worked as the Executive Secretary of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations, managed catering firms, and taught art classes for all ages. As a volunteer, she was a member of the ATA-DC Board of Directors, teacher and member of the ATA- DC Turkish Folk dance group, producer and host of Turkish Radio Hour for ATA-DC, member of the Turkish community theatre group, and producer and host of the “Turkish Hour” TV show. She continues to volunteer as a Turkish Folk dance teacher for the Florida Turkish American Association. Currently she is the 1st. Vice President of the Ataturk World Platform, representing the Ataturk Society of America on the Platform. She has a daughter and a son, and four grandchildren.
